If you are currently a victim of domestic violence and feel powerless to leave or ashamed and afraid to report, I cannot urge you strongly enough to—at the very least—document what is happening to you and preserve any electronic data and physical evidence relating to it.

If you know someone who is a victim of domestic violence, please notify authorities. More likely than not, the victim will not report the abuse. As a survivor of domestic violence, I can attest to the accompanying shame of being abused. Many victims will not tell anyone what is happening to them and will even cover for their abuser. For the victim, living becomes a prison of personal hell.
